AN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A PIECE OF TOOWOOMBA’S HISTORY

The Public Trustee and RealWay Property Partners are proud to introduce ‘Millbrook’, a unique heritage listed property being offered to the public for the first time since it was built in the 1860’s.

‘Millbrook’ is located at 9 Phillip Street, East Toowoomba and it presents a once in a lifetime opportunity for prospective buyers to purchase a unique piece of history.

‘Millbrook’ was previously owned by the renowned ‘Groom’ family and was originally built in the 1860’s on Ruthven Street. Mr WH Groom was the first Mayor of Toowoomba and the first Toowoomba member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He was a prominent businessman involved in the foundation of the Toowoomba Grammar School, Toowoomba School of the Arts, Toowoomba Permanent Building Society and the Toowoomba Chronicle.

Following the death of Mr Groom, ‘Millbrook’ was relocated by his wife in 1901 to Phillip Street. The Groom family retained the historic home until the mid 1930’s when custodianship of ‘Millbrook’ was passed to the Row Family. Dr Row was a well-known local doctor who set up Toowoomba’s first blood bank after World War II. He operated a successful medical practice from ‘Millbrook’ for many years.

Due to its significant history, ‘Millbrook’ was added to the Queensland Heritage register in 2001.

The home is on an allotment of 2,428m2, within just 300 meters of the CBD. All of its character features have been retained despite some minor renovations completed in the 1950’s and 1980’s.

Now 'Millbrook' is ready for a new custodian, to reform it to its former glory.

Character features includes:

- Feature fireplaces in all 4 main rooms
- Decorative ceiling roses and feature lighting throughout
- Stunning stained glass feature front door
- High ceilings and wide hallways
- Original hoop pine flooring throughout
- Bay windows in all 4 main rooms
- Abundance of space throughout the whole home

To say this is an opportunity not to be missed would simply be an understatement. The property is to be auctioned onsite in conjunction with the Public Trustee on the 7th of December 2019 at 9.30am.
